National Newspaper ABC Round-Up – November 1999

The latest national newspaper circulation figures, released by the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) today, show an overall month on month decline in sales of 1.4% for November 1999. The only newspapers to increase their sales over the monthly period were the Sunday Business, which saw its monthly sales increase by just over 2,000 copies and the Financial Times, which increased its monthly sales by 10,443. The Sunday Mirror reported the greatest fall in sales, which fell by almost 3%.

Quality Market

In a year on year comparison, sales in the quality sector rose slightly. The Times and the Independent On Sunday both saw significant falls however, in a year on year analysis. The Financial Times continued to perform well.

Popular Market

Sales in national tabloids fell in a year on year analysis; circulation for the sector was down by over 364,000. The Sunday People and the Daily Star saw the worst losses; only the Racing Post reported an increase in its sales during this period.
