National Newspaper ABC Summary – February 1999
The latest round of national newspaper circulation figures, released by the ABC this afternoon, shows that the Financial Times is still performing stronger than the rest of the market year on year. Between the six months to February this year and the same period last year, the FT gained 39,689 in sales. Most other papers report a decline in circulation.
The one exception to this is the Mirror Group’s Racing Post which has taken almost all of the now-abandoned Sport Life‘s sales (see Racing Post Captures Sporting Life’s Sales, Mirror Claims). Year on year the paper is up by a massive 51.9%.
The two Mail titles are the only other papers to report any growth worth mentioning in this period. The Sunday Express and the News Of The World both suffered substantial losses in sales.
