National Newspaper NRS – November 1998
Readership continues to drop across the national newspaper market, with only the Daily Mail and the Mirror bucking the trend. Readership figures released today by the NRS for the June-November 1998 period paint a fairly bleak picture when compared with the same time the year before.
In terms of percentage loss, the Guardian fared worse during this period, down by 18.8% on the previous year. The Independent and the Independent On Sunday don’t look particularly healthy in these figures either, down by 17.8% and 17.5% respectively. The Sunday tabloids also seem to be quite heavily hit.
Circulation data for December 1998 will be released by the ABC on 15 January. A Round-Up will be available on Newsline shortly afterwards.
