National Newspaper NRS Round-Up – July 2000

NRS figures for the six month period ending July 2000 shows a continuing decline in newspaper readership. A 4.3% drop was seen overall, with more than half of all titles losing more than 2% of their readers.

Despite its March revamp, readership of the Times continues to drop. Figures for July show a fall of 14.3%. In the mid-market, the Telegraph titles also suffered, with the Daily Telegraph dropping 7.1% and the Sunday Telegraph losing 7.4%. Amongst the tabloids, the Sunday Mirror fared worst, falling 6.3%.

There was better news for the Financial Times which saw an 18.4% increase in its readership for July. Also doing well was the Independent, up 6.2%.
