National Press Round-Up – July ABCs

Amongst the daily broadsheets the Daily Telegraph remains out in front with a circulation of 1.093m for July 1997 while its sister paper, the Sunday Telegraph, showed one of the largest year on year increases in sales, which were up 23.7% to 856,598. The Independent and Independent On Sunday both suffered year on year losses. The FT had the highest year on year growth within the market, up 9.7% to 326,084, while the Sunday Times has the highest total circulation at 1.273 million

While both of the Mail titles continue to dominate the mid market, with sales of over two million each, the Express showed a year on year increase of 0.6% to 1.226 million.

The popular market continues to lose sales across all of its titles, with the biggest drops for the People (down 8.8% year on year) and the Sunday Mirror (down 7.7%). The Sun saw a drop in sales of 4.2% to 3.81 million while the Mirror‘s circulation fell 4.1% to 2.33 million.
