Natmags Cancels Exhibitions
![]()
The National Magazine Company has cancelled two of its most popular exhibitions. The Prima Baby and Cosmopolitan shows will not take place next year while the viability of the events are reviewed.
A spokeswoman for the company today said: “Market conditions at the moment mean that the shows have been postponed until further notice. The future of the events will depend entirely on the review.”
The Cosmopolitan show is held twice a year, in London during May and in Manchester during October. The Prima Baby show was inherited last year when Natmags acquired G + J (see NatMags Grabs Gruner and Jahr).
In the past both events have proved popular, drawing relatively large amounts of visitors and generating additional revenue for Natmags. However, the latest ABC results saw the circulation of women’s monthlies drop by 102,053 year on year and the postponement of the events is yet another sign of the turndown that is affecting the consumer magazine industry (see Feature: Has The Consumer Magazine Industry Reached Saturation Point?).
The Country Living Spring and Christmas fairs will go ahead as planned.
