Natmags Finds Buyer For Focus

The National Magazine Company (Natmags) has found a buyer for Focus, the monthly science magazine that it was planning to close.

Bristol based company, Origin, which publishes ten home-interest consumer titles and 14 customer magazines for clients such as HMV and Waterstones, has agreed to buy the magazine. Commenting on the deal, Natmags’ deputy managing director, Duncan Edwards, said: “I am delighted that Origin have seen the potential of Focus and I am pleased that it will continue to be on the newsstands.”

Separately, Natmags has announced plans to extend the Esquire magazine brand with the launch of a new online information service for car, motorbike and bicycle enthusiasts called Esquirewheels.co.uk.

The site is intended to be a “one-stop research tool” for anyone wanting to buy a car, motorbike or bike and will provide information and links to related services such as insurance, finance, warranty and roadside assistance. Editor of Esquire, Peter Howarth, said: “This is the ultimate boys and their toys website.”
