Natmags Gives Parenting Magazine The Chop

Natmags Gives Parenting Magazine The Chop

The National Magazine Company has announced the closure of its parenting title – M – only a year after its launch. The quarterly title went on sale in May last year with an initial print run of 150,000 and was aimed at parents of children aged one to ten (see Newsline). Managing director Terry Mansfield commented: “Unfortunately, the parenting magazine market has not developed at the rate we had hoped.”

The publisher expects the magazine to re-emerge in some form next year, and hopes that the majority of staff from the title will be re-assigned elsewhere in the company.

Separately, Natmags is integrating its Having A Baby magazine into the Good Housekeeping publishing division. The publisher is also anticipating some spin-off title launches by the end of the year. Cosmopolitan Real Life Stories is due to launch tomorrow and Cosmopolitan Hair hits the newsstands on 7 October.
