Natmags MD In Line For CBE
![]()
Terry Mansfield, managing director of the National Magazine Company (Natmags) has been included in the New Years’ Honours list. He will receive a CBE for services to the publishing industry.
Mansfield has been MD at Natmags since 1982, having begun his career in advertising management in 1961 at Condé Nast. He joined Natmags in 1969 and by 1975 was publisher of Harper’s and Queen. He also chairs the magazine industry’s training body, the Periodical Training Council, and is on the board of the Periodical Publishers’ Association (PPA).
“I am very privileged to receive such an honour.” said Mansfield. “Many people say that America is the land of opportunity but for me that is just true of Great Britain. I have had some tremendous opportunities in my life and my abiding passion has always been for magazines. I hope that I too have created opportunities for many others. I owe a lot of my success to the fact that I make lousy tea- had it not been for that, I might have stayed in my first job as an office boy to this day.”
Terry Mansfield had been due to retire in April this year, but it is now thought that he will stay on at Natmags as president and chief executive.
