Natmags Poaches Highbury’s Douglas For Sales Role

The National Magazine Company has announced the appointment of Sharon Douglas to the role of director of consumer sales and marketing.
Douglas joins from Highbury House Communications where she currently holds the position of circulation director. Prior to that she was co-founder of a marketing and publishing agency and spent more than 10 years in various senior circulation roles at Trinity Mirror.
It is understood that Douglas will take responsibility for news-stand, subscription sales and consumer marketing. She will also join the board of distribution firm Comag.
Commenting on the appointment,Duncan Edwards, managing director of the Natmags, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to appoint Sharon to this crucial role. She has great experience in the area of circulation and will bring enormous passion and energy to the business.”
Douglas added: “I am really excited about the prospect of working for one of the most respected publishers in the UK. With such fantastic brands and the total commitment of the sales and marketing team both in house and at Comag, the potential to grow the business is endless.”
Douglas will replace Martin Granby, a twenty year veteran of Natmags, who is leaving in January to make a new life with his family in Israel.
Earleir this year Condé Nast’s Glamour launched of a special travel-sized version of its flagship women’s monthly, Cosmopolitan. The special A5 version of the magazine went on sale at a controlled number of retail outlets, including W.H Smith Travel stores and a small number of other outlets in London (see Cosmo Moves On Glamour With New Travel-Sized Format).
