NBC Announces Autumn Schedule
NBC Europe, the London based pan-European cable and satellite broadcaster, today announced its new Autumn schedule claiming it is “an eclectic mix of the best in dramatic, interview information and entertainment programming”. The new schedule will incorporate elements of sister channels CNBC and MSNBC, a first run drama from NBC(US), and the launch of a new association with National Geographic Television.
The highly acclaimed National Geographic programmes (broadcast weekdays at 17:00 CET and Saturdays at 19:00 CET) will lead a strong documentary thread across the week. Flavours of France will feature a selection of top Michelin starred chefs for their own series which will showcase the regional cuisine of France. Flavours of Italy, like Flavours of France, will combine travel coverage of Italy with a gastronomic tour of the best regional Italian cooking. The Selina Scott Show, produced exclusively for NBC by ITN, is back for another season and will run daily in the prime-time 19:00 CET slot. Talking With David Frost will also make a return (Fridays 20:00 CET) and of course we look forward to the interrogation of various stars including Sean Penn, Warren Beatty, Salman Rushdie, and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
The leading new drama is Profiler, an episodic hour-long suspense thriller starring Ally Walker (While You Were Sleeping) and Robert Davi (Die Hard). This first-run NBC produced drama will be shown one week after USA transmission, the first time this has happened in Europe.
The first truly European entertainment guide, entitled The Ticket (Monday to Friday at 18:30 CET), will feature “the hottest news from the continent’s most exciting cities”. The programme will feature the latest fashion, arts and music news as well as new movies, premieres and celebrity profiles. NBC hope to bring us a true “backstage pass to Europe’s top entertainment”.
New programming will also come in the form of two new shows from MSNBC the recently US launched Microsoft and NBC venture. The Site (Monday to Friday 16:00 CET) will lead viewers on a journey into the world of new media, exploring technology’s impact on business, entertainment and day to day living. Internight Live (Monday to Sunday 02:00 CET) is a nightly “live global talk programme featuring thought provoking conversation with newsmakers from the world of politics, entertainment and everyday life.”
Business programming remains at the heart of the Channel’s weekday schedule, starting the day with European Squawk Box, providing forecasts, announcements and the breaking news of the day. Following this is CNBC’s European Money Wheel, produced in association with FT Television, the first live, pan-European business television news programme. There will also be live links with analysts and sector specialists in the city and trading floors in Frankfurt, Stockholm, Amsterdam and other financial capitals.
