NBC has confirmed that it has bought a majority stake in Super Channel, the UK based satellite channel. The stake has been bought from the Marcucci family of Italy, who have controlled the channel for more than five years.
Under the deal, which cost NBC about £40m, NBC will have a majority stake and managerial control; together with Credit Lyonnaise it will have a total of 75%. Other minority shareholders will hold the remaining 25%. The general entertainment format of Super Channel will remain, but with more news and business programming added.
