NBC Shows Significant Gains

Pan-European broadcaster NBC Super Channel has closed the first quarter of 1996 with a 68% increase in bookings for the year as compared with the same period in 1995.
A significant new quota of blue-chip clients signed on for the first time, in addition to existing advertisers renewing air-time spend. Several sponsorship packages initiated in 1995 were also extended into and beyond the first quarter.
New business was won from Rolex in its inaugural venture into pan-European television consisting of a sponsorship package around NBC’s coverage of the US PGA tour. UPS signed a first-time sponsorship package for NBC series Olympic Heroes as part of the build-up to the Atlanta summer games. Heineken returned with a sponsorship package around the channel’s live Davis Cup tennis coverage, and Nokia expanded their sponsorship of the Tonight Show.
New advertising clients include Peugot, Callaway Golf and Emirates Air.
NBC Super Channel reaches a total of 70 million homes across 44 countries and is primarily an English language service.
