American TV network, NBC, has won the United States TV rights to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics at a cost of £306m – its third successive Olympics win.
The European rights had already been sold to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) for £168m.
The Olympic opening ceremonies are to be moved to Friday night in American prime time.
