Nescafé Signs £4m Friends Sponsorship Deal With Channel 4

Coffee brand, Nescafé, has signed a deal with Channel 4 to sponsor its broadcast of US soap, Friends. The deal is understood to be worth £4 million and will see Nescafé appear at the opening and closing credits, as well as in the commercial breaks.

The association begins on 17 June when Channel 4 begins showing the fifth series of Friends. Commenting on the deal, Simon Hardy, director of consumer marketing at Nescafé, says: “Friends appeals to 16-24 year olds in an upbeat and fun social environment and is very well suited to Nescafé’s brand objectives.” David Charlesworth, controller of sponsorship at C4, says that the deal is the biggest to date for Channel 4.

The credits for Nescafé were put together by McCann-Erickson.
