New Award And Re-Awards From Radio Authority

A radio station called The New 102 has won the Independent Local Radio license for the FM waveband serving Stratford-upon-Avon. The Radio Authority chose the station from six applicants.

The license will cover Stratford-upon-Avon, in Warwickshire, and the surrounding area. Around 170,000 adults will be able to tune in to the new station.

Stations which were re-awarded licenses are Radio Trent (serving Nottingham and Derby areas), Fox FM (Oxford and Banbury) and Orchard FM (Taunton and Yeovil). All these licenses will come into effect on 1 January 1997 and will last for a maximum of eight years from that date.
