New Brand Director For Emap’s Big City

Emap Performance has appointed Brendan Moffet as brand director of its Big City network of radio stations, replacing Cath Murphy who stepped down last year to start her own business in Manchester.

The appointment marks a return to Emap for Moffet, who resigned as brand director of the Magic Network in 1997 to join Sheffield-based interactive entertainment provider, Zoo. Prior to this he worked at Metro Radio, where he was head of marketing.

Commenting on his appointment, Moffet said: “Emap Performance is an exciting place to be. It has great brands and great people and is well placed to exploit further opportunities.”

Malcolm Cox, Emap Performance’s marketing director, added: “The Big City network is an important part of the Emap Performance portfolio and we’re sure that Brendan is the right person to help the teams continue to grow audiences.”

The latest RAJAR data for the third quarter of 2002 shows that the Big City Network (excluding London) has seen its total weekly reach decline by 2.1% period on period to 3,445,000, down from 3,519,000 in the second quarter of the year.

Earlier this week Emap appointed its chief operating officer, Tom Moloney, as its new chief executive, replacing Robin Miller, who has being doing the job on an interim basis for the last 18 months (see Emap Appoints Moloney As New Chief Executive).
