The ITC is inviting applications to run a new local cable delivery franchise for the Ayr area. The licence area will include the local authority districts of North, South and East Ayrshire and those parts of the Inverclyde District not included in the existing Inverclyde broadband cable franchise. The area contains approximately 155,000 homes.
Applications must be made to the ITC by noon on 17 March. An existing system operates in Irvine under a licence which expires on 31 March 1999 and will not be renewed: this system passes about 8,500 of the homes in the new area now advertised.
