New Century Station Boosts Border
Border TV’s radio division reported a 58% increase in turnover yesterday, mostly due to the successful launch of the group’s third and biggest Century station, Century 105, in the North West just over a year ago.
The results, for the year on year period which followed the station’s launch in September 1998, were welcomed by the group’s chairman James Graham. He said: “Radio continues to be a real engine for growth, delivering 38% of group revenues.” In the next nine months there are plans to further its radio operations by applying for two more Century licences for the West Midlands and Yorkshire, and to bid for the second London digital multiplex licence with Chrysalis.
Turnover for the group as a whole rose by 21% to £11.46 million, for the six months ended 31 October, with a pre-tax profit of £1.51 million, an increase of £0.18 million compared to last year.
