New Chairmen For ITN/BskyB

Michael Green, chairman of Carlton Communications is to step down next month as chairman of Independent Television News. Last month the board agreed that the chairmanship of ITN should rotate every two years; Michael Green will have been there two years in April.

It is expected that he will be replaced by Gerry Robinson, chief executive of Granada; Granada and Carlton both hold 36% each in ITN.

Gerry Robinson was appointed chairman of BSkyB on Friday, replacing Frank Barlow. Greg Dyke will take Barlow’s place on the board of BSkyB. Gerry Robinson, commenting on his appointment at BSkyB said that Granada has an 11% stake in BSkyB, and that he hoped that the decision would end speculation that Granada would sell its stake.
