Today sees the launch of the Sky Multi-Channels package, and with it the launch of three new channels: UK Living The Family Channel and Nickelodeon.
Any viewer wishing to see these new channels will need a decoder from Sky and will have to pay £6.99 per month for a package of these and existing channels which are at present free, such as UK Gold.
Channels in the multi-channels package are:

Discovery
* Family Channel
* Nickelodeon
Sky One
UK Gold
Country Music TV
QVC (Launches October 1)
* Children’s Channel
(* Launching Today)
Despite the additional choice that will be provided from now on, BSkyB head of programming David Elstein said at the Edinburgh Festival that the new package will not hit terrestrial television’s share of advertising revenue, claiming that “cable and satellite television will only ever be a 5% player in the ad market”, being primarily financed by subscription.
