New Editor At The Guardian

New Editor At The Guardian

The Guardian has created a new post, editor of the Electronic Guardian. Ian Katz, formerly the paper’s New York correspondent, has been appointed to the position. Katz will be responsible for editing The Guardian’s on-line publications.

Alan Rusbridger, editor of The Guardian, said: “The conventional thing has been to appoint an anorak. The Guardian felt the only way to make the Internet work as a successful publishing medium is to appoint a first rank journalist with new media expertise. Ian Katz is one of the most successful journalists of his generation and will bring extraordinary qualities to bear on this new medium.”

Media Guardian is to join the main paper on-line on the 24 February, although the launch has already been postponed twice.
