New Editor At Woman’s Own

Terry Tavner has been appointed editor of Woman’s Own by IPC Magazines. The position will be effective from 14 September, and Tavner moves over the recently re-launched Eva.
The vacancy arose after the sudden death of the title’s previous editor, Keith McNeill (see Newsline).
The weekly title has enjoyed great success this year, winning the Comag Consumer Magazine of the Year at the PPA Magazines ’98 Awards in May. The latest ABC figures also show that Woman’s Own has seen a 12.3% increase in circulation between January and June this year, with a circulation of over 280,000 (see Newsline).
Publishing director of Woman’s Own, Jackie Newcombe, commented: “The tragic death of Keith McNeill knocked us all for six but I am absolutely delighted to be able to appoint Terry as his successor….she is a hugely successful editor with an excellent track record and a big personality; she is the perfect candidate for this job and we are very lucky to have her.”
Terry herself added: “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Woman’s Own. To have the opportunity to edit the UK’s best known magazine is both a challenge and a privilege. I knew Keith well, and for his own sake as well as mine, I intend to take Woman’s Own on to even greater success.”
