IPC Ignite have poached Conor McNicholas from Emap to edit its dance and clubbing magazine Muzik.
McNicholas, who will take up the position next month, was previously editor of rival Emap title, Mixmag and has also worked for Ministry magazine and Dennis Publishing. He replaces Chris Elwell-Sutton who has left the magazine after less than a year as editor to go freelance.
Commenting on his appointment McNicholas, said: “I am very excited to be joining IPC Ignite. This is a great opportunity to take Muzik back to its roots and re-establish it as a quality music magazine, trusted by its readers to deliver the authoritative voice on dance music.”
He added: “Muzik will be the magazine for twenty something men who are passionate about dance music and going out and who want a quality read that reflects their lifestyle.”
While Muzik performed well in the last set of ABC results seeing circulation rise by 10.3% to 44,219 it still has along way to go to catch up with rival Emap title Mixmag, which increased it circulation by 4.1% to 100,404.
