New Entertainment Channel On Astra

Turner Network Television will launch two new satellite channels in September targeting both children and adults. Cartoon Network and TNT will combine to create a 24 hour entertainment channel. Cartoons will run from 6am to 8pm, followed by 10 hours of ‘classic’ films. Both channels will be free to viewers, funded by distribution sales (cable) and advertising, although a move to subscription is likely at some point in the future. The channel will transmit on Astra 1C, and will be available throughout Europe.

Competitors in this market are The Children’s Channel and Nickelodeon.
