New Figures Put iVillage On Top Of Women’s Websites

Ivillage.co.uk is claiming to have overtaken its rivals to become the top women’s website in terms of unique visitors. New figures compiled by Doubleclick’s DART give iVillage a March total of 417,000 unique visitors, up 22% on February.

The figures put iVillage, which launched in November 2000, ahead of more established rivals including handbag.com, which attracted 375,000 unique visitors during the same time period, Freeserve’s icircle.co.uk, which achieved 183,000, IPC’s BeMe.com with 125,500 and Charlotte Street revamp Femail.co.uk with 92,700.

The site, which is part-owned by Tesco and the developers of the original US version, Ivillage.com, already managed to succeed its own target when it announced last month that initial visitor numbers of 343,595 between January 31 and March 1. This was more than double the original target (see Internet Round-Up)
