New ILR For Manchester
The Radio Authority is advertising a new regional Independent Local Radio licence for the North-West of England, covering most of Greater Manchester, Merseyside and south and central Lancashire. The FM licence covers around 4.3 million adults. This is the second North-West regional licence for this area, the first was awarded to Jazz 100.4 FM, which came on air in September 1994.
The licence will run for a period of 8 years from the on-air date. The closing date for receipt of applications is 19 August 1997. The Authority expects to announce the licence winner by the end of this year.
….Waves Radio Ltd was the sole applicant for the new ILR Peterhead licence. Waves Radio is offering a music based service featuring current and classic hits, combined with news, information and talk about Banff and Buchan.
The licence covers the town of Peterhead in Aberdeenshire and the surrounding area. The Authority expects to announce its decision about the award of the licence within the next two months.
