Vogue has launched a supplement for older women. Real Dressing will be a 68-page insert in the May issue of the magazine and aimed at women who want a more “pragmatic approach” to fashion, health and beauty.
This week saw the launch of DVD Monthly, the first title from Predator Publishing. Aimed at 18-40 year old men, it will provide previews and reviews of the latest DVD releases and hardware on the market and will contain a 32-page satellite, cable and digital TV listings guide. On sale from 27 April, it will have an anticipated print run of 60,000 with a cover price of £3.99.
Saga has launched a lifestyle and e-commerce portal for the over 50’s. Featuring community news and a range of services including home insurance, it will later have an online flight booking and travel services. The move is an acknowledgement of the expanding “grey” sector (see Feature: Grey Is The New Black As Advertisers Take On The Oldies).
Two magazines dealing with biking are set to be launched. Future Publishing’s What Mountain Bike? is due to appear on newsstands on 28 April. The 260-page quarterly “encyclopedia” of mountain biking will have a cover price of £3.75. EMAP Active has relaunched On Your Bike magazine after a complete overhaul since purchasing the title from Carlton Reid last year.
Scotland’s version of Hello! is to be relaunched in June. Hiya! launched earlier this year but lasted for only one issue after the departure of the editor. The quarterly title will cover health, beauty and fashion as well as celebrity interviews and is aimed at 22-44 year old women.
The Complete Guide To Decorating and Design from Natmags launched this week with a print run of 250,000 and a cover price of £2.50.
Wallpaper’s Line magazine launched this week. The sports title will initially be published on the back of Wallpaper.
