New Licence For Huddersfield

New Licence For Huddersfield

The Radio Authority is advertising a new Independent Local Radio licence to serve the town of Huddersfield and the surrounding area. This is designed to cover a more localised area than the existing ILR services provided by The Pulse (FM) and Great Yorkshire Gold (AM), and the Yorkshire regional service of Kiss 105 which launches early next year.

The RA is prepared to consider applications for broadcast on either the AM or FM wavelength. The licence will run for eight years and the closing date for applications is 15 April.

…The RA has also announced that it has now completed its first public interest test under the Broadcasting Act 1996. It has decided that the Independent Radio Group’s (IRG) ownership of two FM licences which cover the same part of Scotland, 96.3 QFM (Paisley) and Scot FM (Central Scotland), does not operate against the public interest.
