New Local Radio Licence For South Wales Awarded To Valley

The Radio Authority has offered the new Independent Local Radio licence on the AM (medium wave) bands for The Heads of the South Wales Valleys to Valley Radio Ltd, after studying proposals from three applicants.
The licence is for a service which will roughly cover an area from Aberdare to Abergavenny, including Merthyr Tydfil, Tredegar, Ebbw Vale, Pontypool and Blaenavon. The licence will come into effect as soon as Valley Sound begins broadcasting.
