New Look Electronic Telegraph Claims Over 210,000 Users
The Daily Telegraph is set to revamp the Electronic Telegraph from 2 April. New features from next week will include an interactive classified advertising section and an archive facility which will search for stories with a related theme.
The design will also be altered, adding a menu bar to each page and changing the background colour to navy blue. There will also be margins down the left and right sides of the pages allowing for related links and photographs. The revamp of the classified section will divide the ads into classifications like travel, motoring and recruitment and will allow the user to pre-select the areas they are interested in; ie in travel they will be able to choose the category of holiday they want and where in the world.
These changes are announced at the same time as new figures for registered users of the ET; these are now over 210,000, which, they claim, makes this Europe’s busiest website. Over 16,000 individuals access approx 180,000 pages each day. Derek Bishton has been appointed editor of the ET; he commented, “The intention behind these changes is to use the electronic medium more creatively.”
