A new magazine combining men’s love of football and fashion, entitled The Newspaper Magazine, is to hit the newstands this month.
The magazine will be published bi-annually in a broadsheet format and will have an initial print run of 20,000. It will be distributed nationwide with a cover price of £5 and will also be mailed directly to 6,000 footballers.
The title is to be headed up by former Esquire editor, Peter Howarth, with contributors including Nick Foulkes and Oliver Owen. A range of top-end advertisers have been secured for the launch issue including Dolce and Gabbana, Armani, Burberry and Tag Heuer.
The magazine’s publishers, Absolute Paper, claim that title’s key visual appeal is that the images are printed very large on high quality paper to create maximum impact.
The England international defender, Sol Campbell, is the cover star for the launch issue and other footballers appearing in the fashion shoots include Ashley Cole and Jermaine Jenas.
Recent reports suggest that Emap is set to shake-up the men’s magazine market with the launch of the first weekly title targeting males interested in sport, news, entertainment, gossip and glamorous women (see Emap Set To Shake-Up Market With New Men’s Magazine).
