New Marketing Chief At Capital

New Marketing Chief At Capital

Capital Radio has appointed David Andrews as marketing chief, with responsibility for Capital’s FM music stations and Gold Network.

In line with Capital’s intention to build strong brands, Andrews will be responsible for defining and developing the marketing and business strategy for the CHR network (the umbrella brand for Capital’s FM music stations) and the Gold network. He will work to create a consistent brand that runs across all platforms.

Andrews will report to Capital FM and Gold managing director, Andria Vidler, and will divide his time between Capital’s offices in London and Birmingham. He will recruit a head of marketing and communications for London to work across the CHR and Gold network and a head of marketing and communications for the CHR network in the regions.

He will also be responsible for the overall strategic management of Capital’s external agencies.

Capital FM and Gold managing director, Andria Vidler, said: “David’s proven marketing skills together with his knowledge of our regional CHR stations is a real advantage in building our local strengths under one single proposition. The regions know and trust him and he understands the importance of retaining strong relationships with local communities.”

Andrews, a former British Gas marketing chief, joined Capital three years ago as head of marketing at BRMB, where he was responsible for the controversial “two strangers and a wedding” initiative. Upon Capital’s acquisition of Century, he then moved on to become the managing director of Capital’s 105.4 Century FM in Manchester, before being appointed to the post of regional marketing director for the group stations outside of London.
