ITV executives were furious yesterday with Marcus Plantin following his criticism of the Prime Minister at the Edinburgh Festival, and for saying that a change in schedule was still very much on the agenda. (Newsline 31/8)
ITV chiefs are angry and embarrassed that the issue was raised in this manner, calling Marcus Plantin “irresponsible”, after Sir George Russell, chairman of the ITC had made it clear that the companies could not alter the news without permission from the ITC and it was too soon after the allocation of the franchises in January to consider such a move.
