New Plan To Control Internet Ads
A group of media owners which is believed to include The Telegraph Group, United News & Media, Pearson and Loot are in discussions to launch an Internet service which would provide access to an advertising database site.
Hugo Drayton, Marketing Director of the Telegraph, told MediaTel that the service would be run on similar lines to Classified Link UK, a joint venture between News International and the Press Association PA And News International To Develop Online Advertising, which offers newspapers the facility to sell over the Internet as part of a classified site.
A working-title for the project is net.tv and it is rumoured that Microsoft will be developing the software to run the service.
