New President For The IPA

Graham Hinton, chairman of Bates Dorland, has been elected as the new president of the IPA. He takes over from John Bartle, joint chief executive of Bartle Bogle and Hegarty.

In his inaugural speech to the IPA, Hinton said that he was setting out to regain the strategic pound for advertising agencies through training, effectiveness and an external promotions programme. He told the audience, of 250 advertising executives, that brand management had returned to the top of the client agenda and that advertising agencies needed to be the natural partners. He also envisaged a new type of agency where all functions were more creatively minded.
