ITV1’s one-off action thriller managed to gain more viewers than the debut of BBC One’s new drama series, starring Jane Horrocks.
The Outsiders, featuring former Eastenders actor Nigel Harman, was watched by an average of 4.4 million adult viewers in the 9pm timeslot, taking a 22% audience share.
Meanwhile on BBC One, The Amazing Mrs Pritchard, a drama series about a supermarket manager who stands for election, took an average of 4.1 million adult viewers (a 19.6% audience share). However, it managed to hold its audience more effectively than ITV1’s programme did, which saw viewers falling away at the end of the show.
Earlier, Trinny And Susannah Undress, the pair’s debut for ITV1, managed an average of 3.7 million adult viewers, taking a more than 18% share of the viewing audience compared to Holby City on BBC One, which was watched by 5.7 million adults (28%).
Also in the 8pm slot, Autumnwatch on BBC Two was seen by more than 3.6 million adult viewers, giving the programme an almost 18% share of the television viewing audience, not far from the figure for Trinny and Susannah’s show.
Sharon Osborne’s chat show was again in deep water last night, taking less than one million adult viewers and just an 8.5% share for ITV1, compared to The New Paul O’Grady Show, which took an almost 21% share for Channel 4, being watched by 2.2 million adult viewers in the 5pm slot.
