New Radio Times Format For NTL Customers

BBC Worldwide has secured a deal with NTL, which will see it producing a weekly special edition of the Radio Times especially tailored for cable customers.

The magazine will be delivered weekly to NTL subscribers from next January and replaces the monthly NTL Guide which will fold in December. The new edition will include the usual interviews and features found in the existing Radio Times alongside dedicated listings for NTL channels and the latest information about the cable operator’s services and offers. The magazine will be delivered free to all NTL subscribers in time for the first programme week of January 2003.

According to its own figures, NTL currently provides cable services to over 1.2 million households across the UK. Subscribers will be offered the first four issues of the new title for £3.25, the same price as the existing monthly magazine. The BBC has not confirmed the cover price for the new magazine.

Ashley Munday, Publishing Director of Radio Times, said: “We are delighted to be able to provide NTL customers with their very own version of the TV guide. As multi-channel television continues to grow, Radio Times needs to cater for the diverse requirements of viewers across all television platforms.”

It is the first time that BBC Worldwide has tailored an existing magazine for a third party. Both NTL and BBC Worldwide will be involved in marketing the new magazine format.
