New Saatchis Wins BA

British Airways has announced that New Saatchis has won a 12-month contract for its £60 million worldwide advertising account. Four agencies were pitching for the account; BBH, New Saatchi, Saatchi & Saatchi (the incumbents) and JWT.

Robert Ayling, British Airways’ Group Managing Director said, “This has been an extremely difficult decision. We have selected the agency which we feel best meets our business needs, will deliver the creative excellence and provide the worldwide presence which is essential for British Airway’s business.”

All media planning and buying has gone to the New Saatchi agency as well. Results of the Qantas account, whose representatives were also involved in the review, will be announced today.

… Saatchi & Saatchi have also lost the £7m BT global advertising account, to Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO, but have gained the Comet account worth £24m, and the £2.5m Welsh Tourist Board.
