The Daily Mirror today launches a new sports supplement called Football Mania Plus. The magazine, which will be published with every Wednesday edition, is the same format as the one-off Football Mania which was published at the start of the football season. The 32-page colour supplement is A4 in size and covers not just football but all sports including rugby, cricket and fishing. Advertisers include Nationwide, Adidas and Becks.
The Independent will also launch a new section. The Eye will launch on Saturday as an arts listing supplement to rival the Guardian’s Guide from October 12. The paper claims it will be more colourful and innovative than similar supplements and be in a ‘quartfold’ format. There will also be a new education recruitment section on Thursdays, aimed at higher education markets, which will launch on October 10.
