BBC1 is believed to be considering a new look to its Saturday evening schedule, with Match of the Day being moved to an earlier slot with a repeat showing later on.
Sources suggest that the Corporation is looking at moving the show to a slot either just before or just after the National Lottery. A repeat showing would be screened later that night to reach people coming back from the pub. If the move were to go ahead, the early Match of the Day would provide stiff competition to ITV for its male viewers since it screens Blind Date during this time in the Winter.
A spokesman at BBC1 however denied that there would be any change to the scheduling of Match of the Day.
