New Technology Sector To Boom

The new technology sector in outdoor advertising, which includes screens, video walls and interactive kiosks, is set to increase its revenue from £2.7m to £8.7m by the end of the year, according to a report by Outdoor Connection.

Nearly 82% of the total revenue for the new technology sector is generated in leisure environments such as football and rugby stadia, music festivals and other live events but investment by major contractors, particularly in the transport sector, is expected drive future growth.

Director of Outdoor Connection, Andrew Allerton, said: “The explosion of new technology in outdoor offers a multitude of new opportunities for advertisers. The previously static outdoor message can now have movement and sound and the ability to target by day part or modal relevance. The sector is still in its infancy but with a fresh and unencumbered approach to creative and production opportunities the sector will continue to make advances across our cityscapes.”

The New Technology report predicts that the sector, which was worth just £100,000 five years ago, will increase its revenue four-fold this year.
