Newcastle United Football Club confirmed to Newsline that it is currently in discussions with a number of broadcasters with a view to setting up its own club-dedicated channel. Although the club would not confirm any specific plans or companies it is believed that BSkyB and Granada have made a joint offer.
Manchester United recently begun a similar venture with BSkyB and Granada (subscribers see Man United Channel Confirmed) who are reportedly looking to sign Liverpool F.C. in another TV deal.
