Mr Murdoch’s News Corporation has acquired the remaining 36.4% interest in Star TV, the Hong Kong based satellite broadcaster. News Corporation bought the remaining share from Hutchinson Whampoa, the Hong Kong based conglomerate for US$346.6m.
According to the company, Star TV reaches 54m homes covering Asia, India and the Middle East. Star TV says being wholly owned by News Corp will enable the media group to explore joint operations with other arms of the group.
