News Corp Profits Virtually Unchanged

News Corporation, Rupert Murdoch’s global media business, has reported flat profits for the first quarter to the end of September. Pre-tax profits came in at A$285m compared with A$284m for the same period last year. Operating revenue was A$3.15bn, slightly higher than last year’s A$3.13bn.

The News International arm of the company reported that its newspapers had posted an 18% increase in operating profit. The Times in particular was singled out for success, reporting daily sales up 19% and ad revenue up 30%.
