The Telegraph newspaper group which publishes The Daily and the Sunday Telegraph has announced interim pre-tax profits. Pre-tax profits for the six months to the end of June rose 60% to £34.6m against £21.6m previously. Turnover improved from £119.9m to £128.1m. This was largely due to profits from disposals and interests in associated companies.
Independent Newspapers, the Irish publishing group, reported pre-tax profits of Ir£14.6m which is more than double the previous figure of Ir£7m. Figures are for the six months to June.
