The Sun and Daily Mirror have both struck deals with filling station chains to give away free copies with purchases of petrol. The Sun struck its deal with Shell, offering a free copy with 25 litres of fuel; the Mirror has a deal with Esso offering one copy for £10 of fuel.
Following the example of The Times cutting its cover price in one region as an experiment, Today is to reduce its cover price by 5p to 20p in Liverpool.
The Evening Standard is looking at plans to set up vending machines as well as home delivery.
