Newspaper Society Appoints Senior Advertising Manager

The Newspaper Society has completed the restructure of its marketing department with the appointment of Carla Pall to the newly created role of national advertising manager.
The new role will see Pall assume responsibility for promoting the regional press directly to advertising agencies, following a shake-up of operations carried out by Russell Collier, who was appointed marketing director last year (see Newspaper Society Appoints New Marketing Director).
Commenting on the appointment, Collier said: “The Newspaper Society has now entered a new stage in the marketing strategy. We have proved that the regional press is an effective advertising medium, now we will be focusing more on working hand-in-hand with our industry’s national sales houses and targeted agencies and clients.”
Pall added: “The Newspaper Society has a convincing body of research proving the effectiveness of the regional press as an advertising medium. I look forward to getting out there and demonstrating to agencies and advertisers how much the regional and local press has to offer.”
A recent study carried out by the Newspaper Society shows that the UK business community considers the regional press to be the most useful vehicle for advertising. It also suggests the industry is in a strong position to maintain and grow profitability over the long term (see Research Claims Regional Press Is Set For Revenue Boost).
The latest figures from the Advertising Associated brought good news to the regional press by revealing the industry recorded a 2.8% year on year increase in adspend to £739 million during the third quarter of 2003 (see Gains For Radio And Outdoor Fail To Boost UK Adspend).
