Regional newspaper publisher, Newsquest, is launching a new internet auction service which aims to allow people to sell anything from cigarette cards to cars, boats and planes. The site, www.auctionhunter.co.uk, launches on 18 January and will be linked to Newsquest’s existing network of This Is… websites.
The project is the result of a collaboration between Newsquest and Auction Universe, the US group which has pioneered online auctions.
Jim Brown, executive chairman of Newsquest, says: “We see the internet as a marvellous medium through which to strengthen our relationship with the many communities we serve… We’re proud to be at the forefront of web publishing and to have this brand new site to help pioneer auctions over the internet.”
