Newsquest Launches Two New Paid-For Titles

Newsquest has launched two new paid-for titles in St Albans; St Albans Observer and Harpenden Observer.

St Albans has been a city dominated by free newspapers in the past, sometimes with as many as 5 competing at one time. The launch in September followed Newsquest’s acquisition in July of Review Free Newspapers (see Newsline) which had led it to owning two free titles in St Albans and Harpenden.

Roger Mills, Newsquest’s managing director for the North London region, said: “We believe a strong, vigilant paid for newspaper, available to residents and visitors alike and providing an in depth news and information service and a platform for reader’s views, enriches its community.”
